The new search engine is not as efficient as the old one. If "Starts with" and "Contains" could be at least added to the new search engine, as well as birth dates (when known) for birth/baptism records, that would improve the new search engine considerably. Those of us who do not live in Norway usually have a birth date, but no baptism date with which to compare a lot of hits. I have been using Digitalarkivet since before the microfilm images were put online. Now that I know how to navigate the original search engines, there's a new one that is not easy to work with.
