I am a parent of a student at Manglerud school, and I strongly wish to support the school and help save the international class. Shutting down the school, or removing the international program, will have a significant negative impact on our children and the local community. Switching from English medium to Norwegian at 6th grade is a major challenge for many students, both academically and emotionally, and can affect their confidence and learning progress. The international class provides an inclusive, stable environment for children from diverse backgrounds and helps them integrate successfully. I am participating in this demonstration to give a voice to the parents and children who depend on Manglerud school and its international program. Please do not close Manglerud International Classes.It came as a profound shock to learn that Manglerud International Classes is being shut down. Giving students, families, and staff only until the end of the school year to prepare for such a major upheaval is devastating. On top of that, students will be transferred to a new school where all teaching will be in Norwegian, turning many of their lives completely upside down.
For ten years, MIC has been a successful, well-functioning school where students, parents, and teachers have thrived. Ending a program that has proven its value for a decade makes no sense. Why should the government interfere with something the municipality has clearly found to work well?
Offering an IB World School education is essential for more than 200 students. Please recognize the importance of stability and mental well-being for young people at a particularly vulnerable stage of life. Do not dismantle their community, their friendships, and their sense of security.
We urge you—please reconsider.

My son is a first-grade student at the school, and we are very happy with both the teachers and the overall learning environment. The school has been excellent in supporting his education and development.I strongly support keeping the school open and extending its operation. This would allow my son to continue his education under the international board, aligned with the MIC IB curriculum, which is especially important for our family as we plan to return to our home country in the future.
