Nei til kuttene for samtidsmusikken i Oslo!

Bystyret må skjerme Ultimafestivalen, Oslo Sinfonietta og Cikada!
Hovedstaden vår må ha et profesjonelt kunstliv, også for musikk. Sterke, profesjonelle musikkinstitusjoner er avgjørende for at kommunen skal være en mangfoldig, attraktiv og relevant kunstby i fremtiden.
Midt i koronakrisen og tross økt tilskudsramme på over 2 millioner kroner ønsker Byråden for kultur, idrett og frivillighet, Omar Samy Gamal (SV), å redusere to sentrale samtidsmusikkaktører og oppdragsgivere for det frie feltet i hovedstaden: Mot Kulturetatens opprinnelige innstilling foreslår Byråden å kutte driftstilskuddet til Nordens viktigste festival for samtidsmusikk med 11% og Norges mest fremtredende samtidsmusikk-ensembler med 43% i 2021.
Kuttene til Ultima, Oslo Sinfonietta og Cikada er del av en større reduksjon av kunstmusikken med 1,5 mill. kroner og vil være svært skadelig for hele feltet.
Et musikkliv det har tatt flere tiår å bygge opp kan ødelegges av Byrådets uforståelige beslutninger.
Politikerne i bystyret må skjerme Ultima, Oslo Sinfonietta og Cikada!

Forslag til kulturbudsjettet forhandles fram mot 26. november, hvor budsjettinnstillingen oversendes til Bystyret til behandling og vedtak på Bystyrets møte 9. desember.
Denne underskriftskampanjen vil bli oversendt politikerne.
Byrådens innstilling inneholder følgende kuttforslag:
- Oslo Sinfonietta & Cikada (-750.000,-)
- Ultima (-450.000,-)
- Oslo internasjonale Kirkemusikkfestival (-200.000,-)
- Oslo Kammermusikkfestival (-100.000,-)

The City Council must stand behind Ultima Festival, Oslo Sinfonietta and Cikada!
The City Council of our capital city of Oslo is insistingly urged to keep supporting a viable artistic scene, that includes contemporary music in all its diversity.
Strong, professional music institutions are vital for ensuring the municipality remains an inclusive, attractive and relevant cultural metropolis moving forward.
In the midst of the corona crisis, and despite raising the ceiling in the total grant scheme with over 2 million NOK to a total of 227 million NOK, the Oslo Vice Mayor for Culture and Sports, Omar Samy Gamal (SV), now intends to make sweeping cuts to two of Oslo’s key contemporary music institutions, which are also major employers within the freelance sector.
Against the original proposal of an 2% increase from the Department of Cultural Affairs in the City of Oslo, the Vice Mayor is proposing to cut the operating subsidies of the most important Nordic contemporary music festival by 11%, and of Norway’s most prominent new music ensembles by 43% in 2021.
Cutting funding for Ultima, Oslo Sinfonietta and Cikada is part of a wider programme of cuts to the classical and contemporaruy music sector to the tune of 1.5 million NOK.
This will have an extremely damaging effect on the entire scene.
This music scene, built up over many decades, could easily be brought crashing down overnight by the Vice Mayor’s incomprehensible policies. T
he politicians in the City Council have a duty to protect Ultima, Oslo Sinfonietta and Cikada!

The Oslo 2021 budget is being negotiated between now and 26 November, when the budget proposals will be sent to the Council for consideration and approval at a Council meeting on 9 December.
This petition will be sent to the politicians involved.
The City Council’s proposal suggests the following budget cuts:
- Oslo Sinfonietta & Cikada: -750,000 NOK
- Ultima: -450,000 NOK
- Oslo International Church Music Festival: -200,000 NOK
- Oslo Chamber Music Festival: -100,000 NOK
