There is a proposed pipline and pump that will take water from the river Driva at Aalbu/ Festa and pump the water up to Gjevilvatnet. With this proposal in action the Driva river from Aalbu/Festa, above the Gråura section, will have up to 36m3/s less water. The minimum water level prposed is 16m3/s, leaving the Gråura section too low to kayak and raft. When the pump is running at maks kapasity (36m3/s) the Driva will have to have a water level at near 90m3/s or above for there to be a sufficient amount of water for kayakin and rafting. (the values above are only proposed)
If the pump is set into action the new intervall for kayaking and rafting will be between 90m3/s-150m3/s. Over the past 3 years the Driva river has been in the interval 90m3/s-150m3/s approxametaly 15-16 days per year. Compare this to the interval 30m3/s-90m3/s which has between 90-100 days a year leaves mearly a 1/4 of the days to kayak and raft.
